Access Bars
shutterstock_312349769.jpg

Access Bars is a gentle hands-on modality that was introduced by Gary Douglas in the early 1990s. It consists of 16 bars of energy that run through and around your head. These bars connect at specific “bars-points” and correlate to different areas and aspects of life. During an Access Bars session, a practitioner gently touches these points to release the electromagnetic charge of all thoughts, ideas, attitudes, decisions, and beliefs that may have limited you in the concerned life areas.

Today Access Bars is practiced in over 170 countries world wide, used as a potent and pragmatic tool by families, schools, businesses, athletes, prison wards, psychologists, artists and many more.

For most people, it is the first time that they actually allow themselves to receive without obligation and consideration. This is an incredibly nurturing and relaxing process, undoing limitation in all aspects of your life that you are willing to change.

Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage
shutterstock_72212857 (1).jpg

Massage involves working the soft tissue of the body, to ease day-to-day stresses and muscular tension, and promote relaxation. It helps to increase delivery of blood and oxygen to the treated areas and can also be used in support of other therapies to assist in the rehabilitation of muscular injuries.

There are many different types of massage. Some of these – such as Indian head massage and remedial/sports massage - concentrate on specific areas of the body, or problem areas. With all massage treatments, the therapist will adapt the pressure and techniques used to suit the client’s individual needs and preferences.'

Before treatment, your therapist will provide a full consultation, asking you various questions about your health and lifestyle, to ensure treatment is right for you. Most full body massage treatments take approximately an hour, though a ‘back, neck and shoulder’ massage may take between 30 to 40 minutes.

Treatments usually take place on a massage table or coach, though some may require you to sit in a chair or lay down on a futon-type mat on the floor. If the treatment involves the therapist directly massaging your skin, a nourishing oil or cream-based product will generally be used to provide a free-flowing massage, and towels carefully placed to ensure your modesty and keep you warm and comfortable throughout the treatment.

Whatever type of massage you are having, your therapist will advise you of what to expect before the treatment begins.

The EMMETT Technique is based on the belief that light touch can trigger a relaxation response in the soft tissue of the body, and the therapist may help relieve tensions resulting in feelings of improved comfort within the body.

It may be enjoyed by people of all ages, from the very young to the elderly and also by animals. Many people find they feel more at ease within their body and emotional well being is enhanced and animals appear more calm and at ease.

It is a safe and simple muscle release therapy that addresses discomfort and movement restriction issues. It involves light finger touch at specific locations on the body surface to stimulate the gentle release of muscle and soft tissue tension.

It works well as a standalone approach but can easily be combined with other complementary therapies such as massage, Bowen therapy and chiropractic as examples.

Hypnotherapy
shutterstock_51092695.jpg

Think of hypnosis as a state of deep relaxation and focus, like daydreaming. It’s a state in which the mind is more receptive to ‘unlearning’ undesirable behaviours and replacing them with new and more appropriate reactions.

Jo will guide you into a deeply relaxed state known as a ‘trance’. This is when the conscious mind (which is rational, logical and helps you to make decisions) becomes detached from everyday worries. When this happens, the subconscious mind (which operates on automatic pilot and is responsible for our emotions, memories and nervous system) is more open to suggestion. It is here we can create change and overcome outdated, unhelpful thought patterns.

Hypnosis can be highly effective in dealing with distressing feelings, pain, anxiety and stress, insomnia, fears and phobias and panic attacks. Jo specialises in anxiety, confidence and self-belief. Perhaps where you feel, less than equal to others, like you wear a mask, or feel like an imposter.

When it comes to emotions, there’s not a lot that hypnosis can’t help!

Shiatsu
shutterstock_95034673.jpg

Shiatsu is a traditional hands-on Japanese healing art.  It can help in a wide range of conditions - from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health. Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and regular Shiatsu sessions help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives.

Oriental tradition describes the world in terms of energy. All things are considered to be manifestations of a vital universal force, called 'Ki' by the Japanese, ''Chi", or 'Qi', in China. Ki is the primary substance and motive force of life. It is most often described as "energy", but Ki is also synonymous with breath in the Japanese and Chinese languages. In Oriental medicine, harmony of Ki within the human body is conceived as being essential to health.

The philosophy underlying Shiatsu is that Ki flows throughout the body in a series of channels called meridians. For many different reasons Ki can stop flowing freely and this then produces a symptom.

Common conditions which have been helped by Shiatsu include:

  • relieves tension

  • stress

  • wellbeing

  • helps aid sleep

  • helps relaxation

Singing Therapy
296002305_614525649989330_2096482179331342076_n.png

Singing is a type of vocal expression using words, pitches, and
durations. It comes under the umbrella of vocalising, which is a term
used to describe any type of voice usage.

The difference between the human voice and other instruments is
that rather than being ‘outside’ the body, the voice is ‘inside’ and
connected to everything we are, including our emotions, perceptions,
and physical health. Many of the challenges a singer may face are
unintentionally self-created and typically include emotional limiters
such as fear, doubt, anxiety, and embarrassment. A difficulty for
many individuals is that they hold so many feelings, triggers,
traumas, and perceptions inside them that the personal act of
opening themselves up to intimate expression is often too
uncomfortable.

Any vocal expression should really feel free, enlivening, personal, and
exhilarating. My aim therefore is to assist the individual through a
variety of different approaches, to systematically unravel who they
are and why they express themselves as they do. I will give
supportive, tailored and very specific information and guidance to
each individual until a process of transformation reveals itself.
